A techine for Yael Hannah Levinstein at her naming ceremony
by Leah Levinstein
God of my foremothers and forefathers,
Thank you for the bountiful blessings that you granted me.
You safely delivered me from the discomforts of pregnancy
And helped me heal quickly after bringing our baby girl into the world.
I am again in awe at the perfection of your creation.
As we welcome this beautiful, baby girl into our family and community,
I pray that you guide Mike and me to teach her to love and honor your mitzvot.
May my daughter grow to live up to the names which we gave her.
Like the nubian ibex, or Yael, may she gallop through the rocky path of life surefooted.
As the biblical Yael, may she also be brave enough to help those in need.
May she be gracious and honor her commitments like the biblical Hannah.
And may she exhibit the many positive qualities of her namesake,
her great-grandfather of blessed memory, Henry Paul Butler.
May she grow to be intelligent, curious, family-oriented, funny, musical, principled, and persistent as he was.
May it be your will, gracious and loving God; to bless Yael Hannah to grow, learn, and love in health and happiness.
